Overview

Synopsis

Created by legendary manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, Akuma-kun (1989) tells the story of Shingo Yamada, a brilliant ten-year-old boy nicknamed "Akuma-kun" due to his obsession with demons, occult lore, and ancient history. Shingo believes that humanity can be freed from suffering, poverty, and conflict if a peaceful thousand-year kingdom is established through the cooperative power of humans and benevolent demons.
Guided by the ancient sage Faust, Shingo discovers Solomon's Flute and learns the invocation rituals needed to summon demons from the underworld. Using the flute's sacred power, he successfully summons Mephisto II—a reluctant, sword-wielding devil—and sets out to assemble the prophesied "12 Apostles." Together, Shingo and his 12 demonic disciples battle rogue monsters, evil Western devils, and ancient yokai that threaten the earth, striving to create a peaceful world for all mankind.
