In an alternate world, a small percentage of children manifest superhuman abilities upon reaching puberty, though these powers are often flawed or incomplete. Yuu Otosaka, a high school boy with the ability to temporarily possess others for five seconds, uses his gift to cheat his way to the top of his class and maintain a narcissistic, carefree life. His schemes are cut short when he is caught by Nao Tomori, the stoic president of the Hoshinoumi Academy Student Council. Nao forces Yuu to transfer to her school, where the student council’s mission is to track down and protect other ability users from being exploited by scientists and organizations. What starts as a series of episodic missions soon spirals into a high-stakes struggle involving time travel, tragic loss, and a worldwide quest for salvation that will force Yuu to sacrifice his own sanity and memories to protect those he loves.
